When you enter the room, the feeling of community is clear. There are high fives, hugs, and many friendly hellos. Then, everyone chooses their instrument and gets ready to make music.
A weekly program for teens and young adults, the Music YoUROCK supports building social skills and peer relationships. Participants have opportunities to explore a variety of instruments such as the guitar, drums, piano, and their voice. The program also offers participants opportunities to practice leadership and communication skills.
It’s a place for everyone to belong and make music. Drew, a program participant, says, “I love my group so much. Because it’s my heart. It’s good and helps me.” A sentiment echoed among many of the participants.
Music YoUROCK is eligible for coverage under DDA Respite Care.
