Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Emily Savage, MD Serving as Board Director since 2016 Emily is a primary care physician for highly complex patients and hospice medical director for The Everett Clinic. After she learned about the expressive arts as a therapeutic option for patients, she decided to join the Board of Directors for the Music Project. Inspired by the passion, skill, and heart of the music therapists, Emily is proud to have started a music therapy program for patients with dementia at The Everett Clinic. What do you love most about music therapy? How it reaches people in a way words can never reach them. Who inspires you? My aunt; she retired from a life in politics to pursue her passion of wildlife conversation. She volunteers all her time now and gives her heart and soul to animals. How would you describe yourself in three words? Tall; tolerant; goofy What was your first job? Janitor at a veterinarian clinic What's the first concert you ever attended? Thompson Twins/Flock of Seagulls (1983 or 1984). You likely have never even heard of these bands - not gonna lie, the concert was not great. If you had to eat one meal the rest of your life, what would it be? Indian food especially lamb rogan josh If you could plan a vacation anywhere in the world, where you would go? Colombia - a mega birdwatching destination, my ultimate dream. Share a fun fact about you. I am a bird nerd and now spend every free moment I have tracking and photographing birds.
