Vee is a board-certified music therapist in the final stages of their Masters of Music Therapy through Slippery Rock University. Vee specializes in using music as a healing agent for young people who have survived trauma. Presently, they facilitate music therapy programs for children and families in transitions at schools and a recovery center. However, their work experience includes a broad range of clients. In addition to their clinical programs, Vee is responsible for assessing the specific needs and challenges of program participants; developing structures and planning experiences to meet individual and group needs; providing supervision for music therapy staff and interns; and addressing ongoing program assessment and evaluation.

How did you first become involved with the Music Project? When I finished my courses at Arizona State University, I was searching for an internship on the West Coast with an emphasis on working with youth who had experienced trauma. The Music Project was the only organization I could find doing trauma work in this area. I reached out to learn more about how the Music Project’s music therapist had come to do this work, and she invited me to intern here. I have worked at the Music Project since the completion of my internship.

What types of people do you enjoy working with the most? I love working with children and families in transition as well as LGBTQ youth.
