What does someone need to be successful at this internship?
Having a self-care plan and ways to support yourself during internship is important. In creating a successful self-care plan, it helps to know what activities take more energy and what activities give you energy. Also, self-care is a subject that you can work on during your supervision meetings.
What is unique about this internship and/or internship site?
The approach to clients from a trauma-informed perspective makes this internship unique. It provides many opportunities to experience working with a wide range of populations and clients. Supervisors really work with interns to ensure they can focus and gain understanding of areas of special interest.
What is it like living in the Pacific Northwest?
The Pacific Northwest is full of all kinds of nature. The environment includes mountains, lakes, ocean, desert and forests which are all easily accessible. The culture near Seattle is very accepting. There are always concerns, cultural events and art-related projects happening.
